The knowledge test — Colorado Permit Test
The knowledge test on the Colorado permit test — 4 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
The driving knowledge test covers driving knowledge and safety, and its questions come from the contents of this handbook.
Everything the paper can ask is in the book you were told to read. That is why studying the handbook works and studying a friend who passed does not.
The test questions cover the contents of this handbook including road signs, driving under the influence, driving rules, safety rules and legal items
The knowledge test covers road signs, driving under the influence, driving rules, safety rules and legal items.
Naming the areas tells you where to spend your evening. Signs and impaired driving are called out first, and they are the two a learner most often skims.

Written tests are not given within 30 minutes of an office’s scheduled closing time.
A test started at the door would be cut short by the lights going off. Knowing the cutoff saves a wasted trip at the end of the day.

Practice quizzes for the knowledge test are available online and through the myColorado app.
A practice quiz is a way to find the gaps before the counter does. It is practice, though, and not the paper the state scores.

On the test
Where do the questions on the Colorado driving knowledge test come from?
From the contents of the Colorado Driver Handbook. Everything the paper can ask is in the book you were told to read. That is why studying the handbook works and studying a friend who passed does not. Colorado Driver Handbook, p.1: “The test questions cover the contents of this handbook including road signs, driving under the influence, driving rules, safety rules and legal items”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
