Limited license program — Connecticut Permit Test
Limited license program on the Connecticut permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
Before a limited license is issued, one or more physicians must report on the applicant, and the applicant may have to pass an on-the-road skills test with a DMV inspector.
The point is to license people who can still drive safely, and a doctor's report plus a drive is how that is decided.
Before a limited license is issued to a person, reports made by one or more physicians must be submitted and the person may be required to pass an on-the-road skills test with a DMV inspector.
Anyone with a condition affecting their driving should contact the Driver Services Division at least four months before applying for a Connecticut license.
A medical review takes time. Starting it four months out is what keeps it from holding up the license.

A limited license may restrict driving to daylight, from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset.
Night driving asks more of the eyes than daylight does. A driver who fails at night can still be licensed for the day.
During the period of daylight beginning a half an hour before sunrise and ending a half an hour after sunset.
A limited license may require external mirrors on both sides of the vehicle giving a view of at least 200 feet to the rear.
A driver who cannot turn to look behind needs the mirrors to do it instead, and the state fixes how far they must show.
a motor vehicle equipped with external mirrors located on both the left and right sides of the vehicle to reflect to the vehicle operator a view of the highway at least 200 feet to the rear.
Health standards are stricter for a commercial license holder, or for someone licensed to carry passengers in a taxi, bus or school bus.
A driver carrying other people carries their risk too, so the state asks more of their health than of yours.
Health standards are more stringent for the holder of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the holder of a license to operate a vehicle carrying passengers
On the test
What must be submitted before a Connecticut limited license is issued?
Reports made by one or more physicians. The point is to license people who can still drive safely, and a doctor's report plus a drive is how that is decided. Connecticut Driver's Manual, p.9: “Before a limited license is issued to a person, reports made by one or more physicians must be submitted and the person may be required to pass an on-the-road skills test with a DMV inspector.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
