Driving curfews for minors — Florida Permit Test
Driving curfews for minors on the Florida permit test — 4 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
A 16-year-old licensed driver may not drive between 11 pm and 6 am unless driving to or from work, or accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
Late nights are when a new driver is most tired and the road is least forgiving.
A 16-year-old licensed driver may not drive between 11 pm and 6 am unless driving to or from work or accompanied by a licensed driver age 21 or older.
A 17-year-old licensed driver may not drive between 1 am and 5 am unless driving to or from work, or accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
The window opens up at 17, but the small hours are still closed to a driver that new.
A 17-year-old licensed driver may not drive between 1 am and 5 am, unless driving to or from work or accompanied by a licensed driver age 21 or older.
A minor with a learner license drives in daylight hours only for the first three months, and may then drive until 10 pm.
Three months of daylight is how long the state gives a learner before trusting them after dark.
Minors holding a learner’s license must be accompanied by a licensed driver age 21 or older, and must only drive during daylight hours. After 3 months you may drive until 10 pm.
Both teen curfews lift for a driver going to or from work, or accompanied by a licensed driver aged 21 or older.
The state will not keep a teenager from a night shift, but it wants an adult in the car otherwise.
unless driving to or from work or accompanied by a licensed driver age 21 or older
On the test
When may a 16-year-old not drive alone?
Between 11 pm and 6 am. Late nights are when a new driver is most tired and the road is least forgiving. Official Florida Driver License Handbook, p.25: “A 16-year-old licensed driver may not drive between 11 pm and 6 am unless driving to or from work or accompanied by a licensed driver age 21 or older.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
