Curve and turn signs — Missouri Permit Test

Curve and turn signs on the Missouri permit test — 3 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

This sign warns of a sharp turn, or a turn where the recommended maximum speed is 30 mph or less.

Thirty or less is what separates a turn from a curve on these signs. It is a sharper change of direction than it looks.

A turn sign is used to warn of a sharp turn or turn where the recommended maximum speed is 30 mph or less.

Missouri Driver Guide, p.47

This sign warns of a curve where the recommended speed is less than the posted speed limit for the highway.

The posted limit applies to the straight road. The curve is the part of it the limit was not set for.

A curve sign is used to warn of a curve where the recommended speed is less than the posted speed limit for the highway.

Missouri Driver Guide, p.47

A speed advisory shows the recommended speed for the curve or turn, and you should never drive it in rain, snow, or ice even if you feel comfortable at a higher speed in fair weather.

The advised speed is set for a dry road. When it rains, that speed is already too fast for the bend.

Although you may feel comfortable driving at a higher speed in fair weather, you should never do so in rain, snow or icy conditions.

On the test

What does this sign warn of?

A sharp turn with a recommended maximum of 30 mph or less. Thirty or less is what separates a turn from a curve on these signs. It is a sharper change of direction than it looks. Missouri Driver Guide, p.47: “A turn sign is used to warn of a sharp turn or turn where the recommended maximum speed is 30 mph or less.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
