Zero tolerance penalties — Mississippi Permit Test
Zero tolerance penalties on the Mississippi permit test — 6 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
Mississippi's Zero Tolerance DUI penalties apply to drivers under 21 with a BAC of .02% or higher but less than .08%.
Teens who think a little drink is safe under the adult limit still face their own penalties.
These penalties apply to drivers under 21 years of age, who have a Blood Alcohol Content of .02% or higher, but LESS than .08%.
If a driver under 21 has a BAC of .08% or higher, the offense is a regular DUI, not a Zero Tolerance DUI.
Being young does not soften the charge once the BAC reaches the adult limit.
If a driver is under twenty-one and has a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or higher, the offense is classified as a regular DUI—not as a Zero Tolerance DUI.
The fine for a first Zero Tolerance DUI is $250.
Even a first underage offense costs money a teen driver may not have.
Zero Tolerance DUI—First Offense $250 120 days
A first Zero Tolerance DUI brings a license suspension of 120 days.
A teen who drinks a little and drives can lose the license for months.
Zero Tolerance DUI—First Offense $250 120 days
A second Zero Tolerance DUI within five years brings a fine of not more than $500 and a 1-year suspension.
A second underage offense shows a pattern, so the license goes for a full year.
Zero Tolerance DUI—Second Offense within five years Zero Tolerance DUI—Third Offense within five years Not more than $500 1 year
A third Zero Tolerance DUI within five years brings a fine of not more than $1,000 and a suspension of 2 years or until age 21, whichever is longer.
A young driver who keeps drinking and driving loses the license at least until adulthood.
Not more than $1,000 2 years or until the person reaches the age of 21, whichever is longer.
On the test
To which drivers do Zero Tolerance DUI penalties apply?
Under 21, BAC .02% to under .08%. Teens who think a little drink is safe under the adult limit still face their own penalties. Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.79: “These penalties apply to drivers under 21 years of age, who have a Blood Alcohol Content of .02% or higher, but LESS than .08%.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
