Regulatory sign pictures — Nebraska Permit Test
Regulatory sign pictures on the Nebraska permit test — 9 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
At a stop sign, come to a complete stop before entering the intersection, at the painted stop line if there is one.
Stopping past the line puts your bumper in the crosswalk or the cross lane, where walkers and cars expect space.
Come to a complete stop before entering an intersection.
A yield sign means slow down, or stop if needed, to give the right of way to crossing or merging vehicles.
Drivers who roll past a yield sign at speed pull out right in front of cars that have the right of way.
Slow down or stop, if necessary, to give the right-of-way to crossing or merging vehicles.
A speed limit sign shows the highest speed you may lawfully drive on that road.
The posted number is the top of what is legal, and going over it is a ticket even on an empty road.
Speed Limit – Indicates the maximum speed that a vehicle can lawfully travel on the roadway.
A no left turn sign means a left turn is prohibited.
Left turns are banned where cars cannot see oncoming traffic in time, so turning anyway courts a crash.
No Left Turn – Left turn prohibited.
A no right turn sign means a right turn is prohibited.
A banned right turn usually guards a busy crosswalk or a one-way street running the wrong way.
No Right Turn – Right turn prohibited.
A no U-turn sign means a U-turn is prohibited.
Swinging around across lanes where it is banned puts your car sideways in front of fast traffic.
No U-Turn – U-turn prohibited.
Wrong Way and Do Not Enter signs mark a one-way street or expressway ramp; do not drive past either sign.
Driving past one of these signs puts you head on into traffic coming at highway speed.
Wrong Way & Do Not Enter – These signs are often used in combination, and identify a one-way street or expressway ramp.
A one way sign means traffic flows only in the direction of the arrow.
Turning against the arrow puts you nose to nose with every car on the street.
One Way – Traffic flows only in the direction of the arrow.
A keep right sign means a traffic island, median or obstruction is ahead; keep to the right.
Drivers who pass on the wrong side of an island end up facing oncoming traffic.
Keep Right – A traffic island, median or obstruction is ahead. Keep to the right.
On the test
What must you do at this sign before entering the intersection?
Come to a complete stop. Stopping past the line puts your bumper in the crosswalk or the cross lane, where walkers and cars expect space. Nebraska Driver’s Manual, p.36: “Come to a complete stop before entering an intersection.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
