Truck no zone — Nebraska Permit Test
Truck no zone on the Nebraska permit test — 6 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
No-Zones are areas around trucks or buses where cars disappear into blind spots or are so close they limit the driver's ability to stop or maneuver.
A driver who sits where the trucker cannot see him gets hit when the truck changes lanes.
No-Zones are areas around trucks or buses where cars: 1) “disappear” into blind spots, or 2) are so close that they restrict the truck or bus driver’s ability to stop or maneuver safely.
Never pass close behind a truck or bus that is preparing to back up or is backing up; it may have to block the street to maneuver.
A backing trucker cannot see a small car behind the trailer and will back right into it.
Never pass close behind a truck or bus that is preparing to back up or is in the process of backing up.
After passing a truck or bus, do not pull in front of it until you can see its entire front in your rearview mirror.
Cut in too soon and then slow down, and the truck cannot stop before it hits you.
Don’t pull in front of the truck or bus unless the entire front of the truck or bus can be seen in the rear view mirror.
Trucks and buses have deep blind spots directly behind them, so do not tailgate; if you can see the truck's mirrors, its driver can see you.
Tucked in close behind a trailer, you are hidden from the driver and blind to what is ahead of him.
Being able to see the rearview mirrors of the truck or bus allows the driver of the larger vehicle to see vehicles behind or beside them.
Trucks and buses have much larger blind spots on both sides than cars do, so do not travel beside them for long.
A car riding in a truck's side blind spot is the one it moves over onto when changing lanes.
Do not travel beside trucks or buses for great lengths of time.
Truck and bus drivers sometimes swing wide to turn and cannot see cars behind or beside them, so give them plenty of room and never squeeze around them.
A car that slips into the gap on the inside of a turn gets crushed as the trailer swings back.
Give them plenty of room and never try to squeeze around them.
On the test
After passing a truck, when may you pull back in front of it?
When its whole front shows in your mirror. Cut in too soon and then slow down, and the truck cannot stop before it hits you. Nebraska Driver’s Manual, p.72: “Don’t pull in front of the truck or bus unless the entire front of the truck or bus can be seen in the rear view mirror.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
