No parking places — Nevada Permit Test

No parking places on the Nevada permit test — 7 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

Where parallel parking is permitted, you may not park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant; where angle parking is permitted, the distance is 20 feet.

Firefighters need the hydrant clear to hook up a hose, and every second spent moving a car lets a fire spread.

Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant in a place where parallel parking is permitted or 20 feet of a fire hydrant if angle parking is permitted

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

You may not park within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad.

A car parked near the tracks blocks the view of trains for drivers about to cross, and may be hit itself.

Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

You may not park on a crosswalk or within 20 feet of a crosswalk.

A car parked at the crosswalk hides a small child stepping out until a driver is almost on top of them.

On a crosswalk or within 20 feet of a crosswalk

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

You may not park within 30 feet of a traffic control signal at the side of a highway.

A tall vehicle parked by a signal hides the light from drivers behind it, who then run the red.

Within 30 feet of a traffic control signal at the side of a highway

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

You may not park within 20 feet of a fire station's driveway entrance, or within 75 feet of that entrance on the opposite side of the highway.

A fire truck swinging wide out of the station needs the far side of the street clear as well as its own.

Within 20 feet of a driveway entrance to any fire station and, on the side of a highway opposite the entrance to any fire station, within 75 feet of that entrance

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

You may not park next to a vehicle already parked on the side of the roadway, which is called double parking.

A double-parked car blocks a whole lane, so drivers swerve around it into oncoming traffic.

Next to any vehicle already parked on the side of the roadway (double parking)

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

You may not park within a bicycle lane unless your vehicle is disabled.

A car in the bike lane forces riders out into the traffic lane, right in front of moving cars.

Within a bicycle lane (unless your vehicle is disabled)

Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50

On the test

Where parallel parking is allowed, how close to a fire hydrant may you not park?

Within 15 feet. Firefighters need the hydrant clear to hook up a hose, and every second spent moving a car lets a fire spread. Nevada Driver Handbook, p.50: “Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant in a place where parallel parking is permitted or 20 feet of a fire hydrant if angle parking is permitted”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
