Laws must know yield and snow — Rhode Island Permit Test
Laws must know yield and snow on the Rhode Island permit test — 2 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
Where there are no signs or signals, when two vehicles reach an intersection from different streets at about the same time, the driver on the left yields to the vehicle on the right.
Without a rule both drivers go at once and meet in the middle of the intersection.
In the absence of signs or signals, when two (2) vehicles approach or enter an intersection from different highways or streets at approximately the same time, the driver of the vehicle on the left must yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right.
Rhode Island makes motorists responsible for removing snow and ice that limit vision, and for clearing snow off the roof that could blow onto other vehicles' windshields.
A slab of snow sliding off a roof at highway speed can blind the driver behind.
Rhode Island law makes the motorist responsible for removing from the vehicle snow and ice that limit vision and for clearing away from the roof of the vehicle any snow that might blow down on the windshield or windows of other vehicles.
On the test
Two cars reach an unmarked intersection from different streets at the same time. Who must yield?
The vehicle on the left. Without a rule both drivers go at once and meet in the middle of the intersection. Rhode Island Driver’s Manual, p.58: “In the absence of signs or signals, when two (2) vehicles approach or enter an intersection from different highways or streets at approximately the same time, the driver of the vehicle on the left must yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
