DUI related charges and probation — Tennessee Permit Test

DUI related charges and probation on the Tennessee permit test — 4 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

If you drive under the influence and are in a crash that kills another person, you may be charged with vehicular homicide.

One choice to drive after drinking can end another person's life and send you to prison for it.

If you are operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a drug or alcohol, and you are involved in a crash resulting in the death of another person(s), you may be charged with vehicular homicide.

If you drive under the influence and are in a crash that injures another person, you may be charged with aggravated assault.

An injury crash while drunk is treated like attacking someone, because the harm is just as real.

If you are operating a vehicle under the influence of a drug or alcohol, and you are involved in a motor vehicle crash that results in the injury of another person, you may be charged with aggravated assault.

Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual, p.82

A DUI with a child under 18 in the vehicle adds a mandatory minimum jail sentence of 30 days.

A child in the car did not choose to ride with a drunk driver and cannot get out. The law protects them first.

There is a mandatory minimum jail sentence of 30 days, and a mandatory minimum fine of $1,000.

If a person whose license was revoked for DUI gets a photo ID, the department must mark the ID to show the person is a DUI offender.

The marked ID tells a store clerk or officer at a glance why this person carries an ID and not a license.

If a person with a license revoked for DUI applies for a photo identification license to carry during the period before his or her license can be restored, the department is required to indicate on the ID that the person is a DUI offender.

On the test

What may you be charged with if you drive impaired and cause a crash that kills someone?

Vehicular homicide. One choice to drive after drinking can end another person's life and send you to prison for it. Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual, p.82: “If you are operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a drug or alcohol, and you are involved in a crash resulting in the death of another person(s), you may be charged with vehicular homicide.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
