Alaska license other information — Alaska Permit Test
Alaska license other information on the Alaska permit test — 4 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
For an Alaska license photo, hats, head coverings, sunglasses and theatrical makeup must be removed, but head coverings for religious or medical reasons may remain if moved above the forehead.
The photo has to show your whole face so an officer can match the license to the person holding it.
Head coverings for religious or medical reasons may remain but must be moved above the forehead to allow a full facial picture to be taken.
If an Alaska license or permit is lost, stolen, destroyed or illegible, a duplicate may be obtained after presenting proper identification.
Checking ID stops someone else from getting a copy of your license in your name.
Proper identification must be presented before a duplicate will be issued.
A license or permit holder who changes name or address must notify the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles in writing within 30 days of the change.
Notices about tickets, suspensions and renewals go to the address on file, and a stale one means missing them.
who have changed their name or address must notify the Division of Motor Vehicles, in writing, within 30 days of the change.
To change the name on an Alaska license you must provide court-ordered documentation, though a certified marriage certificate issued by vital statistics is also valid.
Official papers prove the new name truly belongs to you, so no one can take on another person's identity with a license.
A certified marriage certificate issued by vital statistics is also valid for a name change.
On the test
For your Alaska license photo, which head covering may stay on?
One worn for religious or medical reasons. The photo has to show your whole face so an officer can match the license to the person holding it. Alaska Driver Manual, p.13: “Head coverings for religious or medical reasons may remain but must be moved above the forehead to allow a full facial picture to be taken.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
