Child passenger tips — Delaware Permit Test
Child passenger tips on the Delaware permit test — 6 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
Never install a rear-facing car seat in front of an active frontal air bag.
An air bag bursting into the back of a rear-facing seat drives it into the baby's head.
Never install a rear-facing car seat in front of an active frontal air bag.
For a seat belt to fit a child properly, the lap belt should lie snugly across the upper thighs, not the stomach, and the shoulder belt across the shoulder and chest.
A lap belt across the stomach crushes a child's organs in a crash instead of holding the hip bones.
For a seat belt to fit properly the lap belt must lie snugly across the upper thighs, not the stomach.
The chest clip on a car-seat harness should be even with the child's armpits.
A chest clip down at the belly lets the straps slide off the shoulders in a crash.
The chest clip should be even with the child’s arm pits.
Harness straps should be snug: you should not be able to pinch extra webbing between your fingers at the child's collarbone.
Loose straps let a child slide forward and out of the seat before the harness catches.
You should not be able to pinch excess webbing of the harness between your fingers when you try to pinch the harness straps at the child’s collarbone.
For forward-facing car seats, use the top tether whenever possible, whether the seat is installed with lower anchors or the seat belt.
Without the tether, a forward-facing seat tips forward and the child's head travels farther in a crash.
For forward-facing car seat installations, use the top tether whenever possible, whether you are installing with lower anchors or with the seat belt.
When it is hot outside, do not leave children or animals unattended in a vehicle.
At 94 degrees outside, a closed car can reach 122 degrees inside in half an hour.
When it’s hot outside, do not leave children or animals unattended.
On the test
Where must a rear-facing car seat never be installed?
In front of an active frontal air bag. An air bag bursting into the back of a rear-facing seat drives it into the baby's head. Delaware Driver Manual, p.110: “Never install a rear-facing car seat in front of an active frontal air bag.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
