Interlock license requirements — Delaware Permit Test
Interlock license requirements on the Delaware permit test — 4 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
A Delaware DUI offender who chooses the IID license incurs all costs associated with the program.
Putting the cost on the offender keeps the price of their choice with them, not the taxpayer.
If a DUI offender chooses to obtain the IID license, they must have the IID installed on any vehicle(s) the person will or does operate, the offender incurs all costs associated with the program, and must have the device on the vehicle(s) for the entire period required for the IID, regardless of when the original revocation period would otherwise elapse.
In Delaware, the IID time requirement runs from the date the IID license is issued, and the device must stay on for the entire required period even if the original revocation would have ended sooner.
A driver who could pull the device the day their revocation ends would get only a few sober weeks of proof.
The IID time requirement runs from the date of IID license issuance.
For a fourth or subsequent DUI conviction in Delaware, the IID must stay on for at least 54 months.
A driver with four DUIs needs years of proof at the wheel that they drive sober.
Fourth and Subsequent Conviction – at least 54 months.
A Delaware DUI offender who does not apply for the IID program must serve the entire revocation for their DUI and may not drive during it.
Without the device, there is no safe way to let the driver back on the road early.
If a DUI offender does not apply for the IID Program, they must serve the entire revocation associated with their DUI violation and may not drive during this period.
On the test
Who pays the costs of Delaware's IID program for a DUI offender?
The DUI offender. Putting the cost on the offender keeps the price of their choice with them, not the taxpayer. Delaware Driver Manual, p.59: “If a DUI offender chooses to obtain the IID license, they must have the IID installed on any vehicle(s) the person will or does operate, the offender incurs all costs associated with the program, and must have the device on the vehicle(s) for the entire period required for the IID, regardless of when the original revocation period would otherwise elapse.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
