Prohibited equipment tires towing tint — Delaware Permit Test
Prohibited equipment tires towing tint on the Delaware permit test — 7 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
In Delaware, studded tires are legal from October 15 to April 15 inclusive, and illegal from April 16 to October 14.
Studs left on in summer chew grooves into dry pavement that fill with water and cause skids.
Studded Tires - Are legal from October 15 to April 15 inclusive; illegal from April 16 to October 14 inclusive.
No ordinary vehicle may be equipped with a siren, exhaust whistle or compression whistle.
A siren on a private car sends other drivers swerving to the shoulder for an emergency that is not there.
No ordinary vehicle shall be equipped with any siren, exhaust, or compression whistle.
A motor vehicle may tow only one other vehicle, and the draw bar or other connection between them must be no more than 15 feet long.
A long tow line lets the towed car swing out into the next lane and into the path of other traffic.
The draw bar or other connection between any two vehicles, one of which is towing the other, must be no more than 15 feet long.
If a chain, rope or cable is used for towing, a red flag at least 12 inches square must be attached to it.
A bare rope between two cars is nearly invisible, and a driver may try to cut between them.
If a chain, rope or cable is used, a red flag at least 12 inches square must be attached to it.
Window tint is prohibited on the front windshield below its top five inches and on the left and right driver side windows.
Dark tint beside the driver hides a cyclist or pedestrian at a corner, especially at night.
Window tint is prohibited on the front windshield below the top five inches of the windshield (specifically not below the AS-1 masking on the windshield), and on the left and right driver side windows.
A vehicle with aftermarket tint beside the driver must have an approved tint waiver, kept inside the vehicle at all times.
A driver stopped with legal medical tint but no waiver in the car has no way to show the officer it is allowed.
Vehicles that have aftermarket tint to the immediate right or left of the driver must have an approved valid tint waiver, and it must be kept inside the vehicle at all times.
Vehicles with window tint installed must have outside mirrors on both the right and left sides.
Tinted rear windows darken the inside mirror's view, so a car close behind is hard to see at night.
Vehicles with tint installed must have outside mirrors on both the right and left sides of the vehicle.
On the test
When are studded tires legal in Delaware?
October 15 to April 15. Studs left on in summer chew grooves into dry pavement that fill with water and cause skids. Delaware Driver Manual, p.62: “Studded Tires - Are legal from October 15 to April 15 inclusive; illegal from April 16 to October 14 inclusive.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
