When a truck passes or meets you — Delaware Permit Test
When a truck passes or meets you on the Delaware permit test — 4 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
When a truck passes you, help the driver by keeping to the far side of your lane and reducing speed slightly.
A car hugging the line gives a long trailer no room as it goes by.
When a truck passes you, you can help the truck driver by keeping to the far side of your lane.
Do not speed up while a truck is passing you.
A car that speeds up keeps the truck beside it longer and leaves it no gap to return to.
In any event, don’t speed up while the truck is passing.
When you meet a truck coming from the opposite direction, keep as far as possible to the side to avoid a sideswipe and reduce wind turbulence.
Two vehicles passing close at speed can clip mirrors or swipe each other.
When you meet a truck coming from the opposite direction, keep as far as possible to the side to avoid a sideswipe crash and to reduce the wind turbulence between the two vehicles.
The wind turbulence between a truck and a car that meet pushes the vehicles apart; it does not suck them together.
A driver who thinks the truck will pull them in may jerk the wheel and run off the road.
Remember that the turbulence pushes the vehicles apart.
On the test
A truck is passing you. Where in your lane should you keep?
The far side of your lane. A car hugging the line gives a long trailer no room as it goes by. Delaware Driver Manual, p.103: “When a truck passes you, you can help the truck driver by keeping to the far side of your lane.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
