License misuse — Idaho Permit Test
License misuse on the Idaho permit test — 8 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
You must carry your driver's license when you operate a motor vehicle.
An officer who cannot see the card has only your word for the privilege behind it.
You must carry your driver's license when operating a motor vehicle
Misusing or mutilating a driver's license, instruction permit or ID card is a misdemeanor, and a worn or damaged card must be replaced with a duplicate.
A card nobody can read is a card that proves nothing, and carrying it is an offense rather than an excuse.
If your license gets worn, broken, or damaged you need to get a duplicate
Knowingly giving false information on a license, ID card or permit application exposes you to prosecution for perjury, and your credential is canceled.
The application is sworn. A lie on it is not a paperwork error, it is a charge.
you are subject to prosecution for perjury and your credential will be canceled
Your ITD driving record and the Problem Driver Pointer System are examined when you apply for a new license or permit, a duplicate, or a renewal.
Every application is a fresh look at the record, so trouble parked in another state surfaces at the counter rather than later.
When you apply for a new driver’s license or permit, duplicate driver’s license, or driver’s license renewal,
Any outstanding suspension, revocation or cancellation in any jurisdiction has to be cleared before Idaho will issue you a license.
Crossing a state line does not end a suspension. It only moves it to a record Idaho will read.
they must be cleared before you can be issued a driver's license
For your own protection, do not lend your license, permit or ID card to anyone, and do not use anyone else's.
A card in somebody else's hand puts their driving on your record and your name on their citation.
For your own protection, DO NOT: • Lend anyone your driver’s license, instruction permit, or ID card
Anyone operating a motor vehicle on public highways in Idaho must have a valid driver's license.
It is the rule the rest of the book rests on, and it applies on any public road, however short the trip.
Anyone operating a motor vehicle on public highways in Idaho must have a valid driver’s license
Letting an unlicensed driver use your vehicle makes both of you responsible for damage, injury or death in a crash.
Handing over the keys is a decision the law reads as yours, and the bill arrives at both addresses.
both the driver and the owner of the vehicle are responsible for the damage
On the test
When must an Idaho driver have their license with them?
Whenever they are operating a motor vehicle. An officer who cannot see the card has only your word for the privilege behind it. July 2026 Idaho Driver's Handbook, p.13: “You must carry your driver's license when operating a motor vehicle”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
