Address and name changes — Kentucky Permit Test
Address and name changes on the Kentucky permit test — 3 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
A Kentucky driver who changes address or name must obtain a duplicate license within 10 days, and may be cited by an officer for not doing so.
Ten days is short, and the ticket for missing it is real.
If you change your address or name for any reason, you must obtain a duplicate license within 10 days.
A Kentucky name change requires one proof of the change, such as a birth certificate, court order, marriage license or divorce decree.
Any one of those documents will do, and the office decides from the paper rather than the explanation.
To change your name on your license, one (1) proof of the name change is required. (Birth Certificate, Name Change Court Order, Marriage License, Divorce Decree, or other legal documents).
A Social Security card is not acceptable as proof of a Kentucky name change, but proof of a new card in the new name must be provided.
The card is not the evidence of the change. It is evidence that Social Security has already been told.
A Social Security card is not acceptable as proof of name change.
On the test
How long does a Kentucky driver have to obtain a duplicate license after moving?
10 days. Ten days is short, and the ticket for missing it is real. Kentucky Driver Manual, p.16: “If you change your address or name for any reason, you must obtain a duplicate license within 10 days.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
