Regular learners permit — Mississippi Permit Test

Regular learners permit on the Mississippi permit test — 8 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

You must be at least 15 years old to apply for a Regular Learner's Permit.

Starting with a permit gives a young driver a year of practice before driving alone.

You must be at least fifteen years old to apply for a Regular Learner’s Permit.

Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13

You must hold the Learner's Permit for 1 year before you can upgrade to a Regular Driver's License.

A full year of supervised driving covers every season, from rain to early dark.

You must hold the Learner’s Permit for one year before you can upgrade to a Regular Driver’s License.

Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13

If you turn 17 before you have held the Learner's Permit for 1 year, you may apply for a Regular License; at 17 or older you qualify regardless of previous permits or licenses held.

The law treats a 17-year-old as ready to start without the full year of permit practice.

[If you turn seventeen before you have held the Learner's Permit for one year, you are eligible to apply for a Regular License.]

Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13

The Regular Learner's Permit is valid for 2 years.

A permit that never ran out would let a learner put off the full license forever.

The Regular Learner’s Permit is valid for two years.

Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13

A permit holder may drive only with a licensed driver aged 21 or older.

An older licensed driver has years behind the wheel and can spot trouble a new driver misses.

It entitles you to drive a motor vehicle when accompanied by a licensed driver aged twenty-one years or older who is physically occupying the seat next to you.

Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13

The supervising driver for a permit holder must be physically occupying the seat next to the learner.

A helper in the back seat cannot reach the wheel or see what the learner sees.

who is physically occupying the seat next to you.

To get a Regular Learner's Permit, you must pass the same Computerized Exam required for a Regular Driver's License.

A learner on the road must already know the rules, even while still learning the skills.

You must pass the same Computerized Exam required for a Regular Driver’s License to be eligible for a Regular Learner's Permit.

Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13

Your Computerized Exam score is valid for 2 years; if you hand in the 50-hour affidavit before then, you do not retake the exam, but after 2 years you must.

Rules fade from memory, so a pass from long ago does not prove you still know them.

Your Computerized Exam score is valid for two years.

On the test

What is the youngest age at which you may apply for a Regular Learner's Permit?

Age 15. Starting with a permit gives a young driver a year of practice before driving alone. Mississippi Driver's License Manual, p.13: “You must be at least fifteen years old to apply for a Regular Learner’s Permit.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
