Knowledge test — Oregon Permit Test
Knowledge test on the Oregon permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
The Class C knowledge test is passed by answering 28 questions correctly.
Knowing the mark tells you what a wrong answer costs: seven misses is survivable, and the eighth ends it.
You must answer 28 questions correctly to receive a passing score.
You may not use a DMV manual, electronic devices or notes to answer knowledge test questions.
The test measures what you will have with you at an intersection, where there is no time to look anything up.
You cannot use a DMV manual, electronic devices or any notes to help you answer test questions.
An applicant found cheating on a knowledge test fails it and may not test again for 90 days.
The delay is the penalty, and it is far longer than the wait after an honest failure — which is same-day.
If it is determined that you are cheating, you will fail your test. You will not be allowed to test again for 90 days.
An applicant who fails a knowledge test at a DMV office may test again the same day, if the office has the testing resources.
A failed paper is not a waiting period. The limit is the office's capacity that day, not a rule about you.
If you fail a knowledge test, you may test again the same day, depending on the DMV office testing resource availability.
An applicant under 18 taking the knowledge test online must be supervised by a proctor over 21, and a proctor may supervise only two tests in a 24-hour period.
The webcam confirms who is sitting the test; the proctor confirms the room. Capping the proctor stops one adult running a line of them.
If under 18 years of age, a Proctor over 21 years of age must supervise the test.
On the test
How many correct answers does Oregon's Class C knowledge test require to pass?
28 questions. Knowing the mark tells you what a wrong answer costs: seven misses is survivable, and the eighth ends it. 2026-2027 Oregon Driver Manual, p.2: “You must answer 28 questions correctly to receive a passing score.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
