Roundabouts — Wyoming Permit Test

Roundabouts on the Wyoming permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

Traffic in a roundabout moves at slow speeds in a counterclockwise direction.

Everyone going the same way around means no head-on or right-angle crashes inside the circle.

Traffic moves at slow speeds in a counterclockwise direction, and is constantly moving except when yielding to traffic in the roundabout and pedestrians in the crosswalks.

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.48

As you approach a roundabout, slow down and yield to pedestrians and to traffic already in the roundabout.

Cars already circling cannot stop for you easily, so the entering driver waits for a gap.

Slow down as you approach the roundabout and yield to pedestrians and traffic already in the roundabout;

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.48

To enter a roundabout, look to the left, wait for a gap in traffic and merge in.

Traffic in a roundabout comes at you from the left, so that is where the gap you need will open.

Look to the left, wait for a gap in traffic and merge into the roundabout;

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.48

Once you are in a roundabout, keep moving and do not stop.

Cars behind you in the circle do not expect a stop, and stopping invites a rear-end crash.

Once in the roundabout, keep moving, don't stop;

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.48

In a roundabout, use your turn signal as you leave, and yield to pedestrians as you exit.

Signaling your exit tells drivers waiting to enter that they can go, and people may be crossing your exit road.

Proceed to your exit, use your turn signal to indicate you are leaving the roundabout and yield to pedestrians as you leave the roundabout;

On the test

Which way does traffic travel in a roundabout?

Counterclockwise. Everyone going the same way around means no head-on or right-angle crashes inside the circle. Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.48: “Traffic moves at slow speeds in a counterclockwise direction, and is constantly moving except when yielding to traffic in the roundabout and pedestrians in the crosswalks.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
