Vehicle and license definitions — Wyoming Permit Test

Vehicle and license definitions on the Wyoming permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

Bicycles are legally vehicles and can be ridden on all public roads in Wyoming.

Because a cyclist has the right to be on the road, you must expect and share the lane with them.

Legally classified as vehicles, bicycles can be ridden on all public roads in Wyoming.

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.91

Wyoming does not legally require a bicycle helmet, but a properly fitted, certified helmet is highly recommended.

A helmet is the main thing between a rider's head and the pavement in a fall.

While not legally required, a properly fitted and Consumer Product Safety Certified bicycle helmet is highly recommended for protection against serious head injury or death.

A multipurpose vehicle, which includes an ATV, must be registered and plated to use streets and highways, may not be operated on interstate highways, and any class of driver license allows you to drive one.

These small, slow vehicles cannot keep up with Interstate traffic and would be run down.

The vehicle must be registered and plated to be operated on streets and highways, but may NOT be operated on interstate highways and is subject to slow-moving vehicle requirements.

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.93

An off-road recreational vehicle must cross a main road at a right angle, or as nearly so as practicable, yielding to all traffic on that road.

Crossing straight across spends the least time in the traffic lanes.

Crossings of main traveled roadways shall be made at right angles to the roadway or as nearly so as practicable, but, in any case, yielding the right of way to all traffic in the main traveled roadway.

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.93

A suspension is the temporary removal of the privilege to drive; a revocation is its termination.

Knowing the difference tells you whether you will get your license back after a set time or must start over.

Suspension: the TEMPORARY REMOVAL of a person’s privilege to drive.

On the test

Where may bicycles be ridden in Wyoming?

On all public roads. Because a cyclist has the right to be on the road, you must expect and share the lane with them. Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.91: “Legally classified as vehicles, bicycles can be ridden on all public roads in Wyoming.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
