Wyoming vision screening — Wyoming Permit Test

Wyoming vision screening on the Wyoming permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

To meet Wyoming's vision standard, a driver must have 20/40 acuity with both eyes, with or without glasses.

A driver who cannot read a sign until it is close has no time left to react to it.

A person must have 20/40 acuity with both eyes, either with or without glasses, and a combined horizontal field vision of at least 120 degrees to meet Wyoming vision standards for operating a motor vehicle.

To meet Wyoming's vision standard, a driver must have a combined horizontal field of vision of at least 120 degrees.

Side vision is how you catch a car or a deer coming at you from the edge of the road.

A person must have 20/40 acuity with both eyes, either with or without glasses, and a combined horizontal field vision of at least 120 degrees to meet Wyoming vision standards for operating a motor vehicle.

If you use glasses or contact lenses to pass the Wyoming vision screening, you must wear them while driving.

You were judged safe to drive with your lenses on; without them you see less than the test allowed.

If contact lenses or glasses are used to pass the screening, they will be required while driving.

A person who fails the Wyoming vision screening must obtain a vision statement from an eye specialist.

An eye specialist can measure what a quick screening cannot and say whether you can drive safely.

Those who fail the vision screening must obtain a vision statement from an eye specialist.

In Wyoming, if your visual acuity is worse than 20/40 but at least 20/100, you must take a driving skills test.

A drive with an examiner shows whether weaker eyesight actually gets in the way of handling real traffic.

If your visual acuity is worse than 20/40 but at least 20/100, you will be required to take a driving skills test.

On the test

What visual acuity must you have with both eyes to meet Wyoming's vision standard?

20/40. A driver who cannot read a sign until it is close has no time left to react to it. Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.8: “A person must have 20/40 acuity with both eyes, either with or without glasses, and a combined horizontal field vision of at least 120 degrees to meet Wyoming vision standards for operating a motor vehicle.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
