Restricted license — Delaware Permit Test

Restricted license on the Delaware permit test — 3 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

A Delaware driver with a disability may be given a restricted license that allows driving only when the driver, the vehicle, or both have the specified equipment.

A driver who needs hand controls could otherwise drive a car without them.

Special examinations are required by the Division in such cases, and a license with restrictions may be issued to you allowing you to drive only when you, your vehicle, or both are fitted with the specified equipment.

Delaware Driver Manual, p.32

A common restricted license requires the driver to wear glasses when driving or limits them to daylight driving only.

A driver who needs glasses but leaves them off cannot read signs in time to obey them.

A common example of a restricted license is one which requires you to wear glasses when driving or to restrict you to daylight driving only.

Delaware Driver Manual, p.32

A driver with a restricted license who drives without the required equipment can be arrested and may have the license suspended.

A restriction no one enforces is one a driver will skip when in a hurry.

If you drive without the required equipment, you are subject to arrest and your driver license may be suspended.

On the test

When may a driver with an equipment-restricted license drive?

Only when the named equipment is in use. A driver who needs hand controls could otherwise drive a car without them. Delaware Driver Manual, p.32: “Special examinations are required by the Division in such cases, and a license with restrictions may be issued to you allowing you to drive only when you, your vehicle, or both are fitted with the specified equipment.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
