Serious speeding — Delaware Permit Test
Serious speeding on the Delaware permit test — 6 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
In Delaware, a driver convicted of speeding 20-24 mph over the posted limit is sent an advisory letter.
A warning at 20 over tells a driver how close they are to losing their license.
Advisory letters are sent to the driver when convicted for speeding 20-24 mph over the posted speed limit.
In Delaware, a driver convicted of driving 25 mph over the posted limit is suspended for one month.
At 25 mph too fast, a driver cannot stop for most of what may appear in the road.
The driver will be suspended for one month when convicted of driving 25 mph over the posted speed limit.
In Delaware, a serious-speeding suspension grows by one month for each additional 5 mph over the initial 25-mph threshold.
Each extra burst of speed makes a crash more deadly, so each one costs more time off the road.
The length of suspension will increase by one month for each additional five mph over the initial 25-mph threshold.
A Delaware driver convicted of 25-29 mph over the limit may choose the behavior modification/attitudinal-driving course instead of the suspension.
A class gives a driver who went too fast once a way to learn from it rather than just lose their ride to work.
The driver may elect to attend the behavior modification/attitudinal-driving course in lieu of a license suspension when driving 25-29 mph over the posted limit.
In Delaware, for speeding 30 mph or more over the posted limit, the suspension is mandatory, with no course in its place.
A driver 30 over has gone far past a slip of the foot, and a class alone is not enough.
For speeding 30 mph over the posted limit or more, the suspension is mandatory.
In Delaware, driving 50 mph or more over the posted limit, or driving 100 mph on a highway, brings a one-year suspension.
At 100 mph a car covers a football field in about two seconds, leaving no time to react.
One-year suspension when convicted of driving 50 mph or more over the posted speed limit or driving 100 mph on a highway.
On the test
What does Delaware send a driver convicted of speeding 20-24 mph over the limit?
An advisory letter. A warning at 20 over tells a driver how close they are to losing their license. Delaware Driver Manual, p.48: “Advisory letters are sent to the driver when convicted for speeding 20-24 mph over the posted speed limit.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
