Underage DUI laws — Delaware Permit Test

Underage DUI laws on the Delaware permit test — 3 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

For a juvenile's DUI violation, Delaware's Family Court must order the license or driving privilege revoked until the juvenile is legally permitted to drink, at 21 years old.

A teen caught driving drunk once is kept off the road through the years they are most at risk.

For a violation of the Delaware DUI law, the Family Court must submit an order to the Division of Motor Vehicles to revoke the license and/or driving privilege of any juvenile until such time as they are legally permitted to drink alcoholic beverages (21 years old).

Delaware Driver Manual, p.54

Under Delaware's zero tolerance law, a driver under 21 who drives after consuming alcohol has their license revoked for two months for a first offense.

A young driver who learns early that any drinking costs the license is less likely to drink and drive later.

The law states that anyone under the age of 21 years, who drives, operates, or has actual physical control of a vehicle, an off-highway vehicle, or a moped while consuming or after having consumed alcoholic beverages, shall have their driver license revoked for a period of two months for the first offense and not less than six months nor more than 12 months for each subsequent offense.

Delaware Driver Manual, p.54

Under Delaware's zero tolerance law, each subsequent offense brings a revocation of not less than six months nor more than 12 months.

A young driver who drinks and drives again after a first warning needs a longer time off the road.

On the test

Until what age is a juvenile's license revoked for a Delaware DUI violation?

Age 21. A teen caught driving drunk once is kept off the road through the years they are most at risk. Delaware Driver Manual, p.54: “For a violation of the Delaware DUI law, the Family Court must submit an order to the Division of Motor Vehicles to revoke the license and/or driving privilege of any juvenile until such time as they are legally permitted to drink alcoholic beverages (21 years old).”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
