Funeral processions — Idaho Permit Test

Funeral processions on the Idaho permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

Do not drive between or join the vehicles in a funeral procession unless a police officer authorizes you to.

The procession is a single unit, and a car cutting into it separates drivers who are following the one in front.

Do not pass a funeral procession in the right lane on a multi-lane highway unless the procession is in the farthest left lane.

Passing on the right takes a car alongside the vehicles that will be turning off, across their path.

You may not enter an intersection while a funeral procession is going through it, whatever color the traffic light shows, unless you can do so without crossing its path.

Splitting the procession at a signal leaves the back half following nobody, which is the situation the rule prevents.

You may not enter an intersection when the procession is proceeding through (regardless of the color of the traffic light) unless you can do so without crossing the path of the procession.

All vehicles in a funeral procession must have their headlights and tail lights on, and the first and last vehicles must also have their warning lights flashing.

The flashing lights are what mark the two ends, so a driver can tell where the procession stops.

The first and last vehicles in the procession must also have their warning lights flashing to indicate the beginning and ending points of the formation.

Always give funeral processions the right of way.

The procession has to stay together, and the only way that works is if everyone else lets it.

On the test

What must a driver not do when they meet a funeral procession?

Drive between or join the vehicles in the formation. The procession is a single unit, and a car cutting into it separates drivers who are following the one in front. July 2026 Idaho Driver's Handbook, p.78: “do not drive between or join vehicles in the formation unless you are authorized to do so by a police officer”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
