Reinstatement — Idaho Permit Test

Reinstatement on the Idaho permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

When your suspension or revocation ends you get your privileges back by applying to ITD in Boise and paying a reinstatement fee of $25.00 to $285.00, depending on the nature of the suspension.

The license does not come back by itself when the time is up; somebody has to apply and pay.

July 2026 Idaho Driver's Handbook, p.127

Multiple suspensions may carry multiple reinstatement fees.

Each suspension is reinstated separately, so two running together still cost two fees.

If your license was suspended for a serious offense such as reckless driving or driving under the influence, you must also provide proof of financial responsibility for three years.

The certificate is filed with the state and lapses if the insurance does, which restarts the problem.

you must also provide proof of financial responsibility for three years

July 2026 Idaho Driver's Handbook, p.128

The acceptable form of proof of financial responsibility is a certified statement of liability insurance coverage from your insurer, known as an SR-22 certificate.

It is a certificate the insurer files with the state, not the ordinary insurance card.

July 2026 Idaho Driver's Handbook, p.128

Violating Idaho's no-insurance laws requires proof of financial responsibility for one year for a first offense, and for three years for a second offense within five years.

A second time costs three years of it, not one, so the cover gets dear and stays dear.

you will be required to provide proof of financial responsibility for one year for a first offense

On the test

What is the range of Idaho's reinstatement fee?

$25.00 to $285.00. The license does not come back by itself when the time is up; somebody has to apply and pay. July 2026 Idaho Driver's Handbook, p.127: “pay a reinstatement fee of $25.00 to $285.00, depending upon the nature of the suspension”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
