Required stops — Wyoming Permit Test
Required stops on the Wyoming permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
At stop signs, red traffic lights and flashing red lights, you must stop before the crosswalk.
Stopping past the line puts your car where people on foot are crossing.
Before the crosswalk at all stop signs, red traffic lights and flashing red lights;
You must stop when entering a street from a driveway, alley, building or parking lot, and when entering a business district from a side road.
People walk across driveways and alleys on the sidewalk, and drivers on the street do not expect a car to pop out.
When entering a street from a driveway, alley, building, or parking lot (W.S. 31-5-506) and when entering a business district from a side road;
You must stop when a police officer directs you to; an officer's directions outweigh traffic lights or signs.
An officer can see a crash or danger ahead that the signal cannot, and is there to take over from it.
When directed to do so by a police officer. A police officer’s directions outweigh traffic lights or signs;
You must stop when a flag person signals you to at or near construction sites.
Flaggers control one lane of traffic at a time, and going past them can put you head-on with cars from the other way.
When signaled by a flag person at or near railroad crossings or construction sites;
You must stop if you are in any way involved in a traffic crash.
Someone may be hurt, and leaving a crash you had a part in breaks the law even if you were not at fault.
If you are in any way involved in a traffic crash.
On the test
There is a crosswalk at a stop sign. Where must you stop?
Before the crosswalk. Stopping past the line puts your car where people on foot are crossing. Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.50: “Before the crosswalk at all stop signs, red traffic lights and flashing red lights;”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
