School bus stops — Wyoming Permit Test

School bus stops on the Wyoming permit test — 3 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.

The rules

You must stop when meeting or coming up behind a stopped school bus with flashing red lights, from either direction, and stay stopped until the bus moves or its red lights go off.

Children cross the road to and from the bus, often in front of it where a driver cannot see them.

The driver shall not proceed until the school bus resumes motion or the flashing red lights are no longer activated.

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.50

You may pass a school bus with its flashing red lights on only if there is a physical barrier or separate roadways between you and the bus, and then with extreme caution for pedestrians.

A barrier keeps children from walking into your lanes, which is the only reason passing a stopped bus is allowed.

Exception: You may pass a school bus with activated flashing red lights, only if there is a physical barrier or separate roadways between your vehicle and the school bus.

Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.50

On a two- or four-lane undivided highway, vehicles going each direction must stop when a school bus stops.

With no barrier, a child getting off may cross every lane, so traffic both ways has to wait.

On a two or four lane undivided highway, vehicles going each direction must stop when a school bus stops.

On the test

You stopped for a school bus with its flashing red lights on. When may you go?

When it moves or its lights go off. Children cross the road to and from the bus, often in front of it where a driver cannot see them. Wyoming Rules of the Road Driver License Manual, p.50: “The driver shall not proceed until the school bus resumes motion or the flashing red lights are no longer activated.”

How this works

Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.

You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.

Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.

What it costs

  • One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
  • Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
  • Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
  • Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
  • Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
