Teen suspensions — Georgia Permit Test
Teen suspensions on the Georgia permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
A Georgia driver under 21 convicted of one of the listed offenses has their permit or license suspended for six months on a first conviction and twelve months on a later one.
A suspension at that age lands on a job and a school run, which is what makes it bite.
The instructional permit or driver's license of any person under 21 years of age convicted of any of the following offenses shall be SUSPENDED for a period of six months for a first conviction, or for a period of twelve months for a second or subsequent conviction.
Exceeding the speed limit by 24 miles per hour or more is one of the four-point offenses that suspends a Georgia license for a driver under 21.
At that margin the state stops treating it as a speeding ticket and starts treating it as the license.
Exceeding the speed limit by 24 miles per hour or more.
A limited permit after an under-21 suspension is available only where the conviction was for speeding 24 to 33 mph over the limit and the driver is at least 18.
A suspended driver who counts on a work permit may be offered none at all, and the reason is the offense.
A limited permit may be available only if the suspension resulted from a conviction for speeding 24-33 mph over the speed limit and the applicant is at least 18 years old.
A first driving-under-the-influence suspension in Georgia runs for a minimum of 12 months where the blood alcohol concentration was .08 or more, or where the driver refused implied consent testing.
Refusing the test is treated as the worst result rather than as no result at all.
If your Blood Alcohol Concentration was .08 or greater or you refused implied consent testing, your license will be suspended for a minimum period of 12 months
A second driving-under-the-influence suspension in Georgia runs for a minimum of 18 months, with ignition interlock permit eligibility after 120 days.
The second one roughly doubles the first, and the interlock is the only way back onto the road early.
Your license will be suspended for a minimum period of 18 months, with ignition interlock permit eligibility after 120 days.
On the test
How long is a Georgia suspension for a driver under 21 on a first listed conviction?
Six months, and twelve for a later one. A suspension at that age lands on a job and a school run, which is what makes it bite. Georgia Driver's Manual, p.67: “The instructional permit or driver's license of any person under 21 years of age convicted of any of the following offenses shall be SUSPENDED for a period of six months for a first conviction, or for a period of twelve months for a second or subsequent conviction.”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
