Endorsements and restrictions — Utah Permit Test
Endorsements and restrictions on the Utah permit test — 5 rules, each with the reason behind it and a question on it while it is fresh.
The rules
Restriction code B on a Utah license means the driver must wear corrective lenses.
The code is the whole reason a vision test exists. Driving without the glasses it names is driving unlicensed.
B - Driver must wear corrective lenses
Restriction code G restricts a Utah driver to driving during daylight hours only.
Some eyes handle glare and dark badly. Rather than refuse a license, Utah limits it to the hours that are safe.
G - Restricted to driving during daylight hours only
Restriction code 6 restricts a Utah driver to roads with a posted speed of 40 mph or less.
Slower roads give more time to react. The code keeps a driver off the roads where that time runs out.
6 - Restricted to operating a motor vehicle on roads with a posted speed of 40 mph or less
Restriction code 7 restricts a Utah driver to a vehicle with an automatic transmission.
Somebody who passed the test in an automatic has never shifted in traffic. The code keeps the license honest about that.
7 - Restricted to operating a motor vehicle with an automatic transmission
Endorsement code M on a Utah license is the motorcycle endorsement.
A motorcycle is a different machine with a different test. The letter on the card is what says you passed it.
M - Motorcycle
On the test
What does restriction code B on a Utah license require?
That the driver wears corrective lenses. The code is the whole reason a vision test exists. Driving without the glasses it names is driving unlicensed. Utah Driver Handbook 2026-2027, p.12: “B - Driver must wear corrective lenses”
How this works
Most practice tests hand you a bank of questions and leave the manual somewhere else. This one puts them together.
You read one law and the reason behind it, then answer a question on that law while it is still fresh. Get it right and you move on; get it wrong and you have found the gap while it is cheap to fix, not on the morning of the exam.
Learning one rule at a time, and proving it immediately, is what turns a manual you skimmed into something you actually know — and it makes studying feel like getting somewhere rather than like waiting to find out.
What it costs
- One payment, once — not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel, for an exam you sit one time.
- Free to start: a 10-question test and the first section of cards. No sign-up and no account.
- Paying opens the rest of the cards, unlimited full-length practice tests, and retests built from exactly the questions you got wrong.
- Every level up to Prepared — 3 tests passed in a row.
- Do the work, fail the real exam, and we refund you.
